FDRLO
Introduces New Executive Director
We are pleased to announce that Carl A. McLaughlin,
Watertown
,
NY
, will join our staff as Executive Director of the Fort Drum
Regional Liaison Organization, effective
May 1, 2004
. This announcement
was made by Dr. John W. Deans, FDRLO Board chair in a message to
FDRLO Board members earlier today.
Carl McLaughlin brings to
FDRLO a combination of extensive leadership experience and
familiarity with community as well as a deep appreciation of the
invaluable role that
Fort
Drum
plays in
North Country
life, said Dr. Deans.
The mission of
the FDRLO is of critical importance to the economic and social
viability of the
North Country
, said Mr. McLaughlin.
Fort
Drum
and its surrounding communities have created a special relationship
recognized throughout the Army as unsurpassed. I look forward to
working with the FDRLO and other members of our community to insure
that
Fort
Drum
remains a vital part of the
North Country
community and that its military value to our nation and its
potential for expansion is well understood.
On Thursday, Mr.
McLaughlin announced his retirement from
Watertown
City
School District
where he has been Director of Personnel, Transportation and
Technology since 1986. From 1979 to 1986, he served as Director of
Employer/Employee Relations for
Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida Board of Cooperative
Educational Services. He
spent seven years (1972-1979) with the
Rochester
City
School District
as Labor Relations Specialist.
Born in
Lancaster
,
PA
, Mr. McLaughlin moved to
New York
State
with his family while in grade school. He and his family lived in
several upstate communities including
Buffalo
,
Rochester
and
Watertown
. A graduate of St.
Lawrence University,
Canton
,
NY
, he received his Masters in Education from SUNY Brockport. Mr.
McLaughlin is a member of the Adjunct Faculty at SUNY Brockport.
An active community
member, Mr. McLaughlin is an officer and board member of Thousand
Islands Girl Scout Council and Victims Assistance Center of
Jefferson County. He is also a past board member and volunteer for
Hiawatha-Seaway Valley Boy Scout Council.
Carl and his wife, Weslie, have two grown children:
