Military Spouse Economic Empowerment Zone (MSEEZ)
The MSEEZ program is operated in designated areas that develop workforce solutions for military spouses at the grassroots level through collaboration between government, industry, and non-profit partners. Working groups are locally chaired, develop local strategy to address goals, and identify and remove existing barriers to military spouses.
MSEEZ has three goals:
Hire: Commit to and promote the discover the talent initiative; conduct informational interviews for job seeking military spouses
Train: Deliver industry training for military spouses on opportunities and job skills; provide training for hiring managers and applicable staff on military spouse resumes and benefits to hiring military spouses.
Advocate: Focus on returnships/fellowships: Identify opportunities for spouses to integrate into these programs locally; develop military spouse hiring initiatives; encourage states to incentivize milspouse hiring.
Kayla Perry, Greater Watertown North Country Chamber of Commerce has agreed to serve as Chair. Co-Chairs include Jenna Laurine, Lewis County; Laura Pearson, St. Lawrence County; and Scarlet Sharkey, Military Spouse Representative.
We hope to kick this program off in October 2022.
